Plenty of reviews have already covered the plot so I won't do that but I will say this book makes the Doomsday Preppers look very smart! It's TEOTWAWKI and everyone has to live with the consequences of being totally cut off from the outside world. I like these type of "what-if" novels and, of course, Stephen King is going to write this scenario masterfully. Couldn't stop reading once I started! Not a book to share with your kids, but his novels rarely are. It's a book I'll be thinking about for a long time to come.

The television miniseries has nothing to do with the book other than sharing some of the same names of the characters. The story lines are completely different. Having read the book, I could not watch the mini-series though the rest of my family enjoyed it.
